Korea, U.S. agree additional strategic assets could be deployed to peninsula

 

South Korea and the U.S. have agreed that additional strategic assets could be deployed to the peninsula to guard against the threats from North Korea. The two said in a statement released after the 11th Korea-U.S. Integrated Defense Dialogue in Washington on Thursday that they have agreed to consider all possible options, including the rotational deployment of U.S. strategic assets to the Korean peninsula, to deter North Korea. They also affirmed that the THAAD missile defense system in South Korea is for defense purposes only, and said that South Korea, the U.S., and Japan and will work together to maintain stability in the region.

 

 

 

한미 당국은 북한의 위협으로부터 한국을 방어하기 위해 추가전략자산 배치에 대해 합의했습니다. 목요일 워싱톤 D.C.에서 열린 11차 통합국방협의체에서 한미 양측은 북한을 막기 위해 한반도에 미 전략자산을 배치하는 등의 모든 가능성에 대해 합의했습니다. 또한 한국에 배치한 사드 (THAAD, 고고도 미사일방어체계)는 순수한 방어수단으로 한국, 미국, 일본은 한반도의 안정을 위해 함께 노력할 것이라고 밝혔습니다.
