Round-up: Today’s top stories in the morning papers in Korea (March 2, 2017)
1. President Park Geun-hye whose power is suspended says she likes to express gratitude to her fan club ParkSaMo (Loyalists to President Park Geun-hye) on the 28th. On her birthday, Park received a million love letters from ParkSaMo and added that she sincerely appreciated their efforts.
For Park, who are the citizens of the Republic of Korea? Probably only ParkSamMo. I am serious.
2. As Lotte Group decided to provide the golf course in Seongju in Kyungbuk Province as Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) deployment spot, China’s economic retaliation grabbed public attention. Lotte’s annual sales in China surpassed 3 trillion won, and about 70% of shoppers are Chinese for Lotte duty-free shops that reached 6 trillion sales last year
The sales numbers contributed by Chinese must be nothing for Lotte Group then. Anyway, I will not even chew Lotte gum.
