Round-up: Today’s top stories in the morning papers in Korea (January 12, 2017)
1. The team lead by special prosecutor Park Young-soo said a tablet computer believe to be that of Choi Soon-sil contain concrete information including Samsung’s support to Choi family. Special prosecutors unveil the device itself to block the controversy surrounding the table computer.
I wonder whether Choi actually paid for the Galaxy tablet computer. Samsung probably gave to her at free of charge.
2. More than 50% of Japanese positively viewed that recalling the Japanese ambassador to Korea in protest against the recent installation of a comfort woman statue in front of the Japanese consulate in Busan. The survey is conducted by NHK, and more than half of respondents were positive about the Japanese government’s decision.
More than 90% of Koreans, except the Korean government (particularly Ministry of Foreign Affairs), believe that the Japanese government’s decision is absurd.
