OPEC agrees first oil output cuts since 2008

The Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries or OPEC reached an agreement on oil output cuts. A delegate who chose to remain anonymous said after weeks of negotiations, OPEC agreed to reduce the production ceiling at 32.5 million to 33 million barrels per day which is down from current levels of 33.6 million. This is the organization’s first oil cut since 2008. While specific details of the agreement are not clear yet, the source added that the agreement was in line with an accord reached in Algiers back in September.
