Round-up: Today’s top stories in the morning papers in Korea (December 22, 2016)
1. There is growing speculation that President Park Geun-hye’s close friend Choi Soon-sil who is detained in the Seoul detention center is receiving preferential treatment as she is allocated to a room where she can watch TV. The room does provide not only free-to-air television channels but also cable TV channel programs.
Is she also influence-peddling in the detention center? I almost forgot. She is as same as the president. What da heck!
2. Choi Soon-sil argued that Jeong Yoo-ra is innocent as the investigation team led by special prosecutor Park Young-soo issued an arrest warrant. Choi’s lawyer Lee Kyung-jae said that people could criticize Jeong’s admission to Ehwa Women’s University and academic curriculum management but basically, she is not guilty. The whole nation just wants to criticize her.”
He just poured oil on public anger. Public sentiment on Jeong is as similar as dismemberment.
3. Famous musician Richard Marx said via Twitter that an unruly passenger caused trouble by attacking flight attendants and other passengers. Marx added that the Korean Air should be sanctioned as airline staff were ill-trained to handle the situation
Did the ‘psycho’ passenger behave erratically because the crew did not peel peanuts? Korean Air should change their company name first.
