Round-up: Today’s top stories in the morning papers in Korea (September 9, 2016)
1. During G20 Summit in Hangzhou in China, Japanese Prime Minister Abe urged South Korean President Park Geun-hye to remove a teenage girl statue and complete the agreement between South Korea and Japan on comfort women issues. Park did not refute his argument, saying that she hoped to strengthen the relations between the two countries with the agreement.
Chinese leader Xi Jinping told him to watch his words on Abe’s face. She just avoided the issue. That is embarrassing.
2. A report says some of the wet tissue products that are currently distributed in the market contain harmful substances that are found in humidifier disinfectant and exceed the maximum allowable germs by 4,000 times. As people of all age group from babies to adults use this product to maintain hygiene, experts point out that the government should call for safety measures.
